Erika Leal-Ramirez  - Head Coach of Synchronised Swimming at PLC Aquatics, Melbourne

Erika was born in Mexico City, Mexico, 1977

Erika began synchronised swimming at the age of 6, eventually becoming Mexico's top duet performer along with her sister Lillian. She competed in the National Team in 1993 as a junior, then in 1995 -2000 as a senior.
Erika (& her sister) represented Mexico at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics in the team event where they placed 8th.  At the Sydney 2000 Olympics in the duet with her sister, they placed 9th. After moving to Australia to take up a scholarship at RMIT, Erika became an Australian citizen and first represented Australia at the 2007 Swiss Open. Erika represented Australia in the duet (21st) and team (7th) events at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Erika has a degree in Electrical & Communications Engineering.
